  • Full ownership from day one
  • 100% of savings go directly to you
  • Typical payback period: 5–8 years
  • 25-year panel performance warranty
  • Increases the value of your property
  • Optional ongoing monitoring & maintenance plan

* These figures are estimates only, provided for indicative purposes to give you a general idea of what to expect. Calculations assume a geyser timer is installed (included in every Gridstone installation at no extra cost), shifting your geyser load into solar generation hours and significantly increasing effective system coverage. Battery night coverage estimates are based on typical essential household loads. They do not constitute a quote, offer, legal agreement, or binding commitment of any kind. Actual lease amounts, system sizes, and savings will be confirmed in writing after a formal site assessment and may differ based on your specific roof conditions, equipment selection, usage profile, and other requirements. Gridstone accepts no liability for decisions made based on these estimates alone.

Accredited installers complete most homes in 1–2 days. You stay home. We work around you.

5

Live — and Saving

System goes live. We monitor it daily from our office. You watch your electricity bill drop — month after month.

The Long-term View

Not a transaction.
A partnership.

Most solar companies install and disappear. We stay invested — literally. Here is what that looks like over time.

Y1–5

You save. We run it.

Fixed monthly lease at 6% per year — always below what Eskom charges. Gridstone monitors performance daily from our office, handles all maintenance and repairs, and visits your site at least twice a year. No callout fees. No surprises.

Y5+

Buyout option opens.

From year 5 you have the right to purchase the system at a residual value written into your contract before you ever sign. The price is fixed upfront — no negotiation after the fact. Most clients keep the lease running because it works. The option is always there if you want it.

Y10+

We come back to the table.

After 10 years Gridstone approaches you to renegotiate — a rate that is fair to both sides, and potentially an upgraded system using the best technology available at that point. You are not locked in. You are not abandoned. You have a partner who has monitored your roof for a decade and has every reason to keep the relationship working.

I own the property (or have long-term occupancy)
My roof is in reasonable structural condition
I have at least 20 m² of usable roof space
My bond is with a registered South African bank

FAQ

What homeowners ask us

Straight answers. If something isn't here, ask us directly.

On the fixed monthly lease, no. Gridstone funds 100% of the system. There is no deposit, no installation fee, and no design cost. You only start paying your fixed monthly lease once the system is live and generating power. For a cash purchase, you pay the agreed system cost upfront and own it from day one.
On the lease, Gridstone owns the system and carries all maintenance responsibility. If the inverter fails, panels underperform, or anything needs attention — that's our cost, not yours. There are no callout fees and no surprise invoices. We monitor the system daily from our office and visit your site at least twice a year, so we usually spot a fault before you do.
The lease transfers to the new owner along with the property. Most buyers see this as a positive — they're inheriting a home with lower electricity running costs already built in. We'll engage with your attorney and the buyer if needed. We've structured the agreement so it doesn't complicate a standard property transfer.
During the day, when the sun is up, most grid-tied systems continue generating even during load shedding — depending on your inverter and municipality setup. After dark, a grid-tied system without battery storage relies on Eskom. If full backup is important to you, we'll structure that conversation separately. We won't oversell the standard package.
It's possible, but it requires body corporate or trustees' approval. We've navigated this process before and can provide the right documentation to present to your body corporate. Whether it's approved depends on your specific complex rules — we'll tell you upfront if it looks like a problem.
Yes. From year 5 onwards, you have the right to buy the system at a pre-agreed residual value written into your contract before you sign. That number is transparent upfront — no negotiation after the fact. Most clients keep the lease running because it's comfortable and cost-effective, but the option is always there.
After 10 years, Gridstone comes back to the table. We've monitored your system the entire time — we know exactly how it's performing, what it's worth, and what newer technology could do for your home. We approach you with a renegotiated rate that is fair to both sides, and potentially an upgraded system. You are not locked in and you are not abandoned. You have a partner who has been watching your roof for a decade and has every commercial reason to keep delivering value. If you'd prefer to buy the system out at that point, that option is also available at a price agreed upfront.
